SMS/Text Message Notifications and Mobile Information
Last modified: September 2026
Automotus operates SMS text-message notification programs on behalf of municipal clients, including parking courtesy and tow-notification programs for the City of Miami Beach. This section explains what information we collect in connection with these text-message programs and how we use it. It supplements the privacy practices described above.
What we collect for messaging. For our SMS programs, we process a resident's mobile phone number and the associated vehicle license plate, provided to Automotus by the municipality through a secure data integration, together with delivery and opt-out status for the messages we send. We use this information solely to deliver the parking and tow-related courtesy notifications the recipient has opted in to receive, to honor opt-out requests, and to report program activity in aggregate to the municipality.
We do not share or sell your mobile information. We do not share, sell, rent, or otherwise provide mobile phone numbers, opt-in data, or messaging consent to any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile information is used only to operate the notification program described above. No mobile information is shared with third parties for their own marketing.
Consent is optional. Enrollment in SMS notifications is optional and is not a condition of registering for any parking permit program or of receiving any municipal service. A resident who does not opt in, or who later opts out, continues to receive all parking and municipal services without impact to their permit or standing.
Message frequency. Message frequency varies and depends on parking-enforcement activity associated with the recipient's registered vehicle. Recipients receive messages only when a relevant enforcement event occurs.
Message and data rates. Message and data rates may apply, depending on the recipient's mobile carrier and plan.
Opt-out and help. Recipients may opt out of messages at any time by replying STOP to any message, after which no further messages will be sent unless the recipient re-enrolls. For help, recipients may reply HELP or contact Automotus at support@curbpass.io / (714) 769-8192. Opting out of text messages does not affect the recipient's parking permit or access to any municipal service.
Data security. Mobile information is protected using the same administrative, technical, and encryption safeguards described elsewhere in this policy, including encrypted transmission, role-based access controls limited to authorized users, and storage in access-restricted infrastructure.
